Our plans for this weekend got postponed due to hurricane Issac storming through Cincinnati. We had planned to make a fast trip home to go to Kings Island and see the WEBN fireworks. We had to improvise at the last minute and decided to go camping. I will admit that it was my idea, but it turned out to be a not so good one. We got there and set up camp and just happen to be lucky enough to be by two large dogs. Addison has developed a liking for four legged friends. She shouts, "WOOF!!" and gets really excited. All she wanted to do was look at the dogs. We ended up strapping her in her stroller for most of the night. We found a playground and walked to the lake for a little bit. Addison really loves to swing and goes, "Whee!!" She likes to go head first down the slides and is very determined to do it herself these days. Dave built a fire and we cooked our tinfoil dinners. We have perfected them over the years and have got to the point where we don't char them anymore! We topped off the night with Addison getting her first roasted marshmallow. She helped me hold the roasting stick and was very good and staying away from the "HOT" fire. Addison was scared of the smoke and would run away when it came by her. We played some chasing games then ended with Addison wedged in a tree branch. Surprisingly she wasn't scared of being so high! Then it got dark and the bedtime nightmare began...We weren't really sure how we going to pull off putting Addison down. We tried driving around which usually will knock her out. Then we tried to lay her down in the tent. Then we all laid down together. Next thing we know it is around 10:30 and Addison finally curled up in the corner by our feet. Around 1:00am Addison stood up crying so I pulled her up in bed with us. It was all down hill from there. I thought at a few points that my nose was broken from Addison head butting all night. I couldn't take it anymore so around 5 I forced Dave to get up and start packing up. Dave was able to snore almost the whole night so he got a great night sleep. We were home by 7:45 and all fell back asleep until 11. I think that we will be waiting a little bit longer before taking a family camping trip!
To redeem the weekend we went to the Buffalo Wing Festival. We really liked it last year and weren't disappointed this year either. We met up with some friends and had a good time walking around eating the different kinds of wings. Dave ate the hot ones and I stuck with the mild ones. Addison was a good little lady the whole night so we treated her to her very own piece of pizza. I went to break off a bite and she grabbed the whole giant slice and preceded to eat almost the whole thing! We were lucky enough to be there for the competitive eating contest. It was gross and none of us wanted to eat afterwards! We ended the night going over to Will's house for ice cream sundaes. Addison and Will make a cute little pair. They chased each other around and then would hide in a big box and pop out and say, "BOO!" We had a great weekend and we are lucky to have good friends to spend time with.
